Machine Translation and Post-editing in Foreign Language Teaching and Learning: A Systematic Review

In recent years, the improvement of machine translation (MT) has facilitated advancements in new mode Machine Translation Post-editing (MTPE). This study compiles and synthesizes existing literature on post-editing, specifically focusing text type, evaluation, pedagogical implication. It is conducted by Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework. The findings suggest that majority source texts utilized for MTPE language learning involve general domain, with newspapers being most frequently employed option. Meanwhile, results indicate outputs NMT post-editing from-scratch were comparable when evaluating PE outcomes terms accuracy fluency. Furthermore, framework proposed Krings [1] assessing Effort (PEE) gained significant acceptance field. Ultimately, utilization can yield benefits efficacy field acquisition. review also suggests future research directions to analyze issues advance regarding post-editing.
